Learn How to Make Chaga Tea at Home

This ancient drink has been around for thousands of years. Chaga tea is a popular choice for a healthy alternative, it’s rich in antioxidants that keep diseases at bay. If you’re wondering how you can make this tea at home, there are a few simple methods to try. Here are two methods that we picked:

 

Chaga tea recipe – cup method

Making time: 5-10 minutes;

This is the easiest method, it’s a fast and easy way to make chaga tea. Especially if you have never made chaga tea before, then this is the best way to start.

STEPS:

1 - Take a tea cup with an infuser or filter.
2 - Put one spoon (or two for stronger taste) of ground chaga powder. If you haven’t prepared the chaga, you can just grind it.
3 - Warm up the water and pour it onto the chaga. Make sure the water is not boiling hot.
4 - Put something over the cup to keep the tea warm and let it steep for 5-10 minutes.
5 - Add honey or maple syrup. Sugar, milk or any natural ingredient that you like can be added.
6 - Enjoy! You can experiment with different combinations, flavours and ratios.

     

    Chaga tea recipe – pot method

    Making time: 30 minutes

    This method can be used when you’re making chaga tea for lots of people. This way is claimed to be a bit healthier because it gets more heat to crack the chitin.

    STEPS:

    1 - Take a pot with the wide bottom.
    2 - Place the chaga chunks (no bigger than 1” in size) or powder at the bottom of the pot. Measure 1-2 spoons of powder (or 1-2 chunks) for each person.
    3 - Add water and heat it up with the cover off. When your chaga tea starts to warm up (NOT boil), turn the heat to low.
    4 - After 30 minutes of simmering, turn off the heat and let it sit for a few minutes. 5 - The water should be brown already.
    6 - Add honey, maple syrup or sugar.
    7 - Enjoy!
